Pedri extends to FC Barcelona until 2026

The young Spanish midfielder Pedri extended his contract with FC Barcelona for four seasons on Thursday until June 2026, with a release clause of one billion euros.

Pedro Gonzalez, said Pedri, 18, was revealed last year with Barça. He also made his debut with the Spanish selection and participated in both the Euro and the Olympics.

The great hope, who is among the 30 finalists for the Golden Ball, will sign his contract on Friday.

With a release clause set at an unprecedented amount of one billion euros, in order to dissuade other clubs from taking an interest in the young midfielder, Pedri is a long-term commitment to the Blaugranas.

A model of precocity

The Canary Islands native became the second youngest player to reach 50 appearances for Barca, behind striker Bojan Krkic, thanks to an impressive volume of play and tactical ease rare at his age.

For the Catalan club, which is going through a major financial and sporting crisis, Pedri embodies the new generation alongside other prospects like striker Ansu Fati, defender Eric Garcia and midfielder Gavi, who, at 17, has made his debut with La Roja in the League of Nations.
