Pape Gueye, the OM midfielder, did not play this Friday with Senegal, due to suspension by FIFA. Explanations.
Announced holder, Pape Gueye was not fielded by Aliou Cissé this Friday with Senegal against Guinea. The Olympique de Marseille midfielder was suspended by FIFA following a dispute between the Marseille team and English club Watford (Premier League), the coach of the Teranga Lions announced on Friday.
The 22-year-old “had problems outside the national team. There have been problems between Watford and Marseille over a transfer. FIFA suspended him”, said Aliou Cissé in a video viewed on Friday by theAFP.
The origin of this affair dates back to the summer of 2020. Pape Gueye initially signed up with Watford before backtracking and choosing OM, where he signed a four-year contract. The English club had filed an appeal with FIFA, which had opened a procedure.
