Paolo Maldini tackles Gianluigi Donnarumma on his departure from PSG

Formed at AC Milan in 2015, Gianluigi Donnarumma quickly established himself in the cages of the Milan club but had decided not to extend his contract at the end of last season. Finally, the 2020 European Champion with Italy signed up to PSG this summer. A choice that does not understand Paolo Maldini, the technical director of Rossoneri.

“Gianluigi Donnarumma is a beautiful person, full of emotions. I think in an ideal world the only real motivation for a footballer should be passion. But if your goal is to get social redemption and money to give to your family, who tightened their belts for you during your childhood years, these are understandable motivations (…) to achieve certain results and a certain stature as a player, sporting motivations are fundamental. There may be times when a player’s needs do not match those of a club. There are those who prefer to wait and those who are in a hurry.
