In intensive care at Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis, only one bed is currently available. Beyond this 15e read, we will have to seek help from other regions since Quebec is already in the same situation.

« We will have to transfer to Sherbrooke and Rimouski », confirms CISSS spokesperson Mireille Gaudreau, specifying that these two centers « had technical platforms » to receive this type of patient, unlike other regional centers such as that of Saint -Georges, for example.

This situation is caused by a lack of personnel, specifies the CISSS. Even if we wanted to open additional beds, there is not the necessary staff to do so.

“There is a lack of staff to open more. The staff issues that we already had have been increased tenfold recently, ”explains Mme Gaudreau. Especially since the employees assigned to intensive care departments have a certain specialization. « You can’t take people from just any department and send them there. »
