Orange Côte d’Ivoire renews its commitment to the Ivorian Football Federation

(ORANGE COTE D’IVOIRE) – For more than 25 years, Orange Côte d’Ivoire’s commitment to sport in general and football in particular has been beyond measure. This has resulted in support for amateur football, but also in the sponsorship since 2008 of the Orange group of the African Cup of Nations (CAN), the unmissable event for African football. With the organization of the 34th Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Côte d’Ivoire in January 2024, Orange Côte d’Ivoire wishes to transform this de facto support into a formal agreement with the highest authorities of Ivorian football. . This is done thanks to the signing of this partnership between the Ivorian Football Federation and the operator Orange Côte d’Ivoire.

“As part of CAN 2024, the Ivorian government has invested more than a million dollars in infrastructure and resources. Orange is reaffirming today its confidence in this country and in Ivorian football. Confidence that justifies this commitment by our side. We are extremely grateful for that. It is our duty to unite in order to develop, because nothing is possible alone, everything is possible by being united, keeping the direction of fraternity and sharing. This is our goal, to bring together all Ivorians around a common project: to allow Ivorian football to shine again throughout Africa and to be present at the top of the world. The commitment we are making today is a long-term commitment. We are happy and confident to evolve alongside Orange Côte d’Ivoire.  » said Yacine Idriss Diallo, President of the Ivorian Football Federation.

Strengthening the practice of sport is a major challenge on our continent; all of the driving forces – governments, international organizations, sports associations, practitioners, companies – must play a role in building a strong ecosystem, to develop the economic and social potential of the sector. As a reminder, the football economy represents more than 400 billion euros worldwide.

For Mamadou Bamba, Chairman and CEO of Orange Côte d’Ivoire : “Orange Côte d’Ivoire has always been committed to the development of Ivorian football. Several actions bear witness to this, from sponsoring the national league 1 championship to holiday football tournaments throughout the territory, including support for ASEC in Abidjan. This renewal of partnership reaffirms the close collaboration that we maintain with the world of football; it illustrates our desire to support the FIF in development projects for this discipline, both in IT infrastructure and in the promotion of sporting values. Our big challenge will be the CAN 2024 which will take place with us in Abidjan. Orange Côte d’Ivoire will allow fans to experience football fever in connected stadiums”.

The highest authorities have welcomed this collaboration. The two structures were thus able to count on the presence of Minister for the Promotion of Youth, Professional Integration and Civic Service, Mamadou Touré, who made a point of emphasizing: “I would like to congratulate Orange Côte d’Ivoire for this signing of the agreement with the FIF. After a period of rupture, this signature comes to seal the reconciliation between the two structures in the interest of sport and football in Côte d’Ivoire. Beyond the Ministry of Sport, it is the entire Ivorian government that supports this partnership. We hope that Orange’s example will be followed by other companies because football requires a lot of resources, but it is also a powerful way for companies to increase their sympathy capital and contribute to the development of populations”.
