One-year contract extension for Valimaki with the Coyotes

Juuso Valimaki signed a one-year contract extension with the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The 24-year-old defenseman has 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in 43 games this season. He could have become a restricted free agent after the season.

« We are very pleased to sign Juuso to a one-year contract extension, » said general manager Bill Armstrong. « He’s a big (6-foot-2, 205-pound) and strong defenseman who excels both ways and has been a great addition to our defensive squad. We can’t wait to see him in our squad next season. »

Valimaki was claimed off waivers by the Coyotes from the Calgary Flames before the season.

Drafted by Calgary in the first round (16th overall) in 2017, Valimaki has 28 points (five goals, 23 assists) in 125 regular season games with the Coyotes and Flames as well as one assist in two playoff games Stanley Cup playoffs.
