On full fire, Ja Morant signs a new record!

Ja Morant got the 2022-23 season off to a flying start with Memphis, and the superstar point guard did it again against the Pistons tonight. Untenable, the ROY 2020 also took the opportunity to drop a fairly impressive franchise record. It shouldn’t be the last.
When you have to fold a match, the most obvious method is still to rely on your best player. Fortunately for the Grizzlies, they can apply it without worrying too much since they have in their ranks a Ja Morant determined to smash everything. Opposed to Detroit last night (122-112 victory), the leader did everything for his evening opponents, between a masterclass in the third quarter (21 points) and an ultra-clutch action in defense in the money time:

Ja Morant untenable against the Pistons
In total, this gives 33 points at 12/23 shooting (3/7 from afar), 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the Tennessee star, allowing his team to stay in the heights of the Western Conference (14 wins for 9 losses, 4th). The icing on the cake, the former Murray State varsity product continued his hunt for franchise records, to the point of setting a new one that perfectly illustrates just how unstoppable he is offensively:

Ja Morant is the first player in Memphis history with 10 games with 30 points and 10 assists.
So admittedly, the Bears are a fairly young franchise and when the best point guard in your history is called Mike Conley, an admittedly very good player but not really renowned for his statistical blowouts on offense, it is not so surprising. But we tend to forget that beyond his scoring cards, Ja is also a very good passer with more than 7 offerings on average in his career. Enough to make him a real poison for his opponents.
Prolific in points and assists, Ja Morant made Detroit see all the colors tonight. This record which is now his, the Tennessee star should be able to improve it in the years to come. Good luck coming to beat him at the Grizzlies!
