“I had good discussions with owner Joey Saputo and president Gabriel Gervais. It’s progressing well and I can even say that we have a pre-agreement. Now we have to confirm all that. I can’t say it’s done, but we’re going in the right direction,” explained Renard on TVA Sports.
Miljevic a long term plan
The sporting director of CF Montreal also commented on the situation of young Matko Miljevic, following the publication of player salaries by Major League Soccer (MLS). Miljevic has an annual salary of $593,364, which is quite a lot considering his short playing time.
“He was a free agent and was on the seven-team roster, so there are a lot of formations in MLS who wanted him. A bit like Mbappe, a player who is free like that and for whom you have no transfer to pay and well he is in a strong position during the negotiations.
“The important thing to remember is that he is only 21 years old. Besides that, he plays in the same position as Djordje Mihailovic and he is three years younger than him. Three years ago, Djordje was not at the level he was, so we are preparing Miljevic to become the next Mihailovic.
