Announced to be received on November 30, 2021, the 60,000-seat lair has experienced a shift and will be delivered on December 3 instead.

The company in charge of the construction of the Olembé stadium, Magil, had indicated that the keys to the stadium were to be handed over on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. The Cameroonian Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, had given assurances to the African Football Confederation, which was worried about the completion of the work and even threatened to withdraw the organization of the opening match at the Olembé Stadium, if the date of November 30 was not respected.

However, a lot of water flowed under the bridge. The Cameroonian side met CAF last week on the sidelines of the extraordinary general assembly of the umbrella organization of African football. The threat has subsided. The martial speech of CAF has given way, as if by magic, to the rave.

It therefore goes without saying that failure to respect the announced delivery deadline will no longer generate any strong reaction from CAF. The Cameroonian sports boss has made a statement in which he announces the official reception of the Olembé stadium on December 3, 2021. The time for Cameroon to truly complete this den which will hold a central place in the organization of the 33rd edition of CAN TotalEnergies Cameroon 2021.
