Odell Beckham cut by the Browns

Almost traded at the transfer deadline, removed from the group, dissatisfied …

After a few hectic days, the inevitable conclusion came: Odell Beckham was cut off by the Cleveland Browns. This was announced by the first Ian Rapoport (NFL Media), specifying that the player’s camp and the Browns have therefore reached an agreement on his contract. The franchise then formalized the news.

Beckham will now go through the waiver, meaning that any team can claim it for 24 hours, and get it back with their contract. If several teams claim it, it is the team with the worse record which obtains the player.

If no one claims it on the waiver, then the receiver will be free to sign with the team of his choice.

Beckham in Cleveland, so it’s two and a half seasons without the mayonnaise ever really fully setting. The first year, he played every game, with 74 receptions, 1,035 yards and 4 touchdowns. But he only played 7 games in 2020. This season, he participated in 6 games, for 17 receptions, 232 yards and no passage in the end zone. Worst of all, maybe he never really looked like he was missing out on offense when he was away. On the contrary, Baker Mayfield almost seemed to be playing freer.

This Friday is also Beckham’s 29th birthday. Happy dismissal!
