no jackpot for the Blues despite Benzema and Mbappé

Zapping Goal! Football club OM – Lille: The debrief

This Saturday, L’Equipe devotes an article to the problem of the TV rights of the France team. We learn that the offers received are of the order of € 2.5 million for each match while the price is currently € 3.5 million. However, the Blues have won half of the competitions they have played since 2018 (a World Cup, a Nations League) and they have offered strong emotions, carried by players with globally recognized talent such as Kylian Mbappé, Karim Benzema, Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba, etc.

The main problem for Noël Le Graët and his team is that a decree requires that France’s matches be in the clear. The choice is therefore limited, especially as TF1 and M6 are getting closer. The first channel also recalls that it loses money when it broadcasts the Blues. In England, the Three Lions meetings bring in € 7 million to the Federation because two channels, one in clear, the other in toll, share the posters. Noël Le Graët hopes that the legislation will evolve on this subject. In the meantime, he remains hopeful of maintaining the current tariff for TV rights.

TV rights for the Blues on the decline

Despite globally recognized stars, despite titles, broadcasters are not ready to pay fortunes for the matches of the France team. While each match is worth € 3.5m currently, the latest proposals would only be € 2.5m.
