« No coach in this world will prevent me from playing CAN », the rant of an African star!
Toko Ekambi is THE player who dared to say out loud that he will play in the African Cup of Nations (CAN) even though his trainer tried to stop him.
“There is no coach in this world who will prevent me from playing CAN. It’s disgusting that some people are trying to prevent African players from participating in CAN. It becomes unbearable the condescension that the ECA and the Premier League show towards African football! It is up to African players, leaders and the media to ensure that this contempt stops for good ”Karl Toko Ekambi wrote on his Facebook page.

This exit of the Cameroonian striker who plays in Lyon, came at a time when the holding of the CAN is threatened due to the health crisis mentioned by FIFA and certain European clubs while Cameroon has already made public the health system for fight against the Coronavirus.
A final decision is expected this week after the meetings between CAF President Patrice Motsepe and the CAN Organizing Committee, Cameroonian President Paul Biya and a visit to the Olembé stadium which will host the opening match on January 9. 2022. In Cameroon, national television announces that CAN 2021 is indeed confirmed.
