no agreement between teams for the end of the race under safety car

After the parody of the end of the race last Sunday at Monza, and a victory for Max Verstappen under safety-car conditions, the debate has returned to the forefront in order to avoid such an outcome for a grand prix. A debate that is nothing new since Andreas Seidl, the head of McLaren, said that the subject had already been discussed in detail after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix which closed last season. « After what happened last year in Abu Dhabi, there has been a lot of discussion between the FIA, Formula 1 and all the teams involved to see how the rules could be changed to ensure that races never end under safety car“, he explains to Motorsport. « But despite the fact that the FIA and Formula 1 pushed us all to find solutions, we, the teams, and practically all the teams, did not accept a change because we could not agree on a better solution, which is also a fair solution in terms of sporting results. That’s why, I guess, we just have to accept that, unfortunately, situations like (Sunday’s) can occur.»
