Lightning striker, Brayden Pointand the Stars defenseman, Miro Heiskaneneach opened the scoring, but their respective clubs both gave up a 2-0 lead before coming away with a win.

  • A total of 97 games this season have seen a team at least equalize the score after being trailing by several goals (of the 344 games in which a team has led by two or more goals). The team that trailed got at least one point in 76 of those 97 games (54-22-22; a game is included twice, as both clubs trailed by several goals: TBL 6, BUF 5 in overtime on November 28).
  • Point’s 23rd career multi-goal game and Brian Elliott’s 34 saves gave the Lightning (16-9-1, 33 points) their ninth win in 12 games since Nov. 13. Elliott improved to 6-0-0 in his last six appearances since Oct. 22, marking his longest winning streak in five years.
  • Heiskanen scored the fastest two goals by a Stars defenseman in over 21 years, but the Senators responded with three straight goals that forced Dallas to score the tying goal with 5:06 left in regulation. Heiskanen, one of four defensemen to score in the game (five goals in total), became the first Stars defenseman in over 16 years to score more than one goal in the first period of a game (the last : Philippe Boucher on November 24, 2006 against LAK).
Rolling for Marner and the Leafs

The trio made up of William Nylander (1-1-2), Auston Matthews (1-0-1) and Mitchell Marner (1-0-1) scored three of the Maple Leafs’ five goals past justin bieber and the rest of the Scotiabank Arena, which allowed Toronto to extend its points streak to 13 games (10-0-3). Toronto improved to 16-0-1 when the trio scored in a single outing and came close to the longest scoring streak in franchise history three times (14-0-2 from November 22 to December 26, 2003).

  • Nylander scored the last of three goals in 66 seconds. It’s the sixth time in the past 20 years that Toronto has scored three goals in that time frame or faster after December 23, 2019 (0:59), April 3, 2017 (0:43), March 20, 2017 (1:06), January 4, 2007 (0:42) and November 24, 2006 (1:00).
  • Marner (10-18-28 in 21 GP) became the 10th different player in the last 35 years to post a point streak of 21 or more games and only the third active skater, behind Patrick Kane (26 GP in 2015-16) and Sidney Crosby (25 GP in 2010-11).
  • Along with bringing his 21-point streak to Toronto’s next game on Saturday against Calgary, Marner will enter Hockey Night in Canada with a point in each of his last 17 games on Saturday (12-19-31 since 26 february). Fourteen different players in NHL history have scored on 18 or more consecutive Saturdays, Vincent Lecavalier having achieved the feat for the last time with the Lightning (13-23-36 in 20 GP from January 13 to December 15, 2007).
