The Sharks came back two goals before finally securing the penalty shootout victory. It was Alexander Barabanov, the 10th shooter, who made the difference for San Jose.
Earlier in the game, Frederick Gaudreau and Connor Dewar had given the Wild the lead. Steven Lorentz reduced the score in the 54th minute before Nico Sturm gave his former teammates headaches.
