Grégory Hofmann will no longer wear the Columbus Blue Jackets jersey. The Bernese Jura forward, who returned to Switzerland in December to attend the birth of his child, told the Ohio franchise he will not return to the United States. He will play again with the EV Zug.
« We gave permission to Grégory to take a step back for personal reasons and he informed us today that because of these reasons he had decided not to come back, General manager of the franchise Jarmo Kekalainen said. We are of course disappointed, but we had no choice but to suspend it. «
Acquired in February in an exchange with the Carolina Hurricanes, the Swiss champion with Zug had signed a one-year lease with the Columbus team on June 14, 2021. In the Blue Jackets jersey, he scored 2 goals and distilled 5 assists in 24 parts. He hasn’t scratched the ice since December 14 in Vancouver.
Hofmann will be able to play again in Zug once all the transfer formalities with the NHL have been completed. His contract in central Switzerland is valid until 2023.
