NHL: Dallas takes advantage over Las Vegas
Defenses and goalies dominated the opening game of the Western Conference Finals between the Dallas Stars and the Vegas Golden Knights. Despite 25 shots on the opposing goal of each team, only one small goal was scored. It was the work of Dallas defender John Klingberg from the third minute of play. Klingberg was opportunistic by recovering in the axis a puck blocked by Vegas defender Zach Whitecloud before adjusting Marc-André Fleury d ‘a wrist shot.
Anton Khudobin, the Russian goalkeeper from Dallas, did the rest, stopping 25 shots in Vegas to afford the first shutout of his play-off career at over 34 years old.
