Having a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2022-23 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become a better bettor with this betting model and our betting tools.

CHOICE OF NHL MODELS

Every day we will look at every game, sports betting odds (via Betway) and every team’s win odds based on the model created by Philippe Boulsink. Based on these two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to watch throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

I will also provide best bet analysis and update this post throughout the day to report important news regarding injuries, roster changes and the departure of backup goalkeepers.

The number to watch is the « Diff ». which is the percentage difference between the projected Win% of the model and the projected Win% based on Betway odds. To find out how odds convert to percentages, use our odds calculator.

Bets recommended 💰

Minnesota Wild (@TOR) ML +179

The Wild’s offense wasn’t great in February, scoring just 20 goals in 10 games (2.0 GF/g), but they’re riding a four-game winning streak while not allowing only 1.25 goals per game. This is a team that relies on its defense and its goaltenders, and they have one of the best goaltenders in the league tonight. Gustavsson has made 14 of his last 20 starts (14-4-1) while posting an excellent 1.80 average, .937 SV% and one shutout. They will face a very good Maple Leafs team tonight with +179 underdogs. The model sees them at +127, so there’s a lot of value on Minnesota tonight.

Bet 1 unit: MIN ML +179

Montreal Canadiens (@PHI) ML +149

Even with a massive amount of injuries, the Canadians didn’t give up. They continue to play competitive hockey and have had big wins over the Devils, Oilers and Islanders in recent weeks. Meanwhile, the Flyers have lost five of their last six, so +149 is a good price for Montreal tonight. Both of these teams are equally bad, so the underdog is going to have some value. The model sees the Habs as only +111 underdogs.

Bet 1 unit: MTL ML +149

Colorado Avalanche (@WPG) ML +102

The Jets’ offense has been muted recently, scoring just eight goals in their last four games (2.0 GF/g). Since mid-January, they are 29th in NHL scoring, averaging just 2.32 goals per game. Still, they’re favorites against an Avalanche team that is 11-2-2 in the same period and ranks seventh in scoring (3.53). Cale Makar may be missing, but they still have a quality top 4 at the back and look great as a +102 underdog.

Bet of 2 units: COL ML +102
