Recommended bets

Tampa Bay Lightning (@DET) ML-146

The Lightning had a tough performance in Toronto last night, ending their five-game winning streak. They’ll be looking to bounce back in Detroit against a Red Wings team that has struggled recently. Detroit has lost six in a row, averaging just 1.7 goals per game. Also, Friday’s game against Buffalo has been postponed due to an impending storm, so there’s a better chance that Andrei Vasilevskiy will play twice in a row, as it’s now their last game before the Christmas vacation.

Bet of 2 units: TBL ML -146

Edmonton Oilers (@DAL) ML +134

The Oilers are on a three-game losing streak, losing one-goal games to the Blues, Ducks and Predators. It’s a good time to buy low on the Oilers, who are pretty big underdogs in Dallas. The Stars started the season with a 12-5-3 record in their first 20 games, but are only 7-3-3 in their last 13. During this lackluster streak for both teams, they compare quite favorably. Dallas is seventh in xGF% (54.5%), while Edmonton is 10th (53.3%). The model sees Connor McDavid and Co. as -101 favorites, so there’s a ton of value on them at +134.
