Like last year, the defender Jake Gardiner shouldn’t be able to line up with the Carolina Hurricanes. The player, who was not even invited to training camp, had already missed the last campaign following hip and back surgery.

Gardiner is in the final year of his 4-year contract which cost the Hurricanes more than USD 16 million. So far, the former Toronto Maple Leafs has only played 26 games with the Raleigh team getting 8 assists.
