Thursday night’s game between the Miami Dolphins and the Cincinnati Bengals was the scene of an ominous scene when Tua Tagovailoa was violently knocked down on the head during the 2nd quarter. The Dolphins quarterback was evacuated on a stretcher after sustaining neck and head injuries.

Tagovailoa was tackled on the back by Josh Tupou of the Bengals. The Dolphins quarterback remained on the ground for long minutes while players from both teams gathered around him to pray.

Tagovailoa was evacuated from the stadium by ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The quarterback was conscious as he left the stadium.

Last week, Tagovailoa was bullied several times against the Bills and his appearance for this game was in doubt. Notably, he left the game for a few moments after collapsing after a tackle, sparking debate about the effectiveness of the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater came on as a relief in Tagovailoa to complete the game as the Dolphins look to remain undefeated this season.

Tagovailoa started the game ranked second in the NFL with 925 passing yards.

He is third in the league with eight touchdown passes, including six on Sept. 18 at Baltimore.

Last Sunday, the Dolphins (3-0) defeated the Buffalo Bills 21-19, while the Bengals (1-2) outscored the New York Jets 27-12.
