NFL wants every franchise to play a game outside the United States every eight years | Touchdown Actu (NFL Actu)

With the upcoming 17-game seasons that will add one more home game for each team, the NFL wants to see more American off-ground games.

According to Ben Fischer of Sports Business Journal, The NFL’s business is to have each of the league’s 32 franchises play at least one game outside the United States once every eight years starting in 2022.
This would ensure in advance that at least four teams will play their “home” match outside the USA for one game, with teams interested in playing more “home” matches outside the country, beyond the 8-year period. Thus, Jacksonville had expressed his desire to play a match « at home » each year in London.

Started in 2007, the matches in London have followed each year since, for example with 4 matches played in the British capital in 2017. Stopped by COVID-19, the league would like to resume these matches internationally for the coming season.
