Back in March, the Packers and Raiders completed the Davante Adams trade. Given the current turmoil in Las Vegas, who won the case?
Davante Adams’ time as the Raider hasn’t been kind, as Las Vegas will miss the postseason in 2022, and longtime friend Derek Carr has been benched. Carr is likely on his way out, either through a trade or free agency, and Adams has made it known that his Fresno State mate is one of the only reasons he became a Raider. primarily through Instagram.
“This man gave everything he had. The reason I’m a Raider… One of the most disciplined and loving people I know. I got my bruddas back no matter what and if you can’t respect it (excuse my language) ????????you!!! ????????♂️????????♂️????????♂️ Love u bruh,” Adams wrote in his caption.
It would be misinformation to pretend to know that Adams is missing his time in Green Bay to Aaron Rodgers, but hindsight is 20/20 in this case.
Davante Adams Packers-Raiders trade reconsideration
The details of the exchange are below, for anyone in need of a refresher:
The Raiders get
WR, Davante Adams
The Packers get
2022 first-round pick
2022 Second-round pick
At the time, Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst wished Adams well in a statement:
“It is never easy to leave a player and a person of the caliber of Davante Adams. We have so much respect for everything Davante gave on and off the court during his eight seasons at Green Bay because he was an integral part of everything we achieved,” Gutekunst said. “He is without a doubt one of the greatest players in Packers history and we can’t wait for him to be inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame one day. We wish Davante, his wife Devanne and the rest of their family only the best for the future. »
Green Bay used the No. 22 pick over Georgia’s LB Quay Walker, and the No. 34 pick over WR Christian Watson. Both have contributed greatly to the Packers, but none to the level of Adams, who is on his way to another Pro Bowl season.
Who won the Davante Adams trade?
In truth, no one won this transaction.
Adams and Aaron Rodgers lost the chance to extend their memorable partnership. While Green Bay has received draft picks, and both players look good so far, they’ve taken a step back in what could be Rodgers’ final season.
The Raiders now have an elite receiver and no quarterback. Carr failed under the pressure, with an elite core of weapons around him. Vegas must start afresh at the most important position in football.
