Josh Allen threw three touchdown passes and added a rushing major as the Buffalo Bills crushed the Los Angeles Rams 31-10 on Thursday night in the NFL’s opener of the new season.
The score was tied 10-10 at halftime, but the defending Super Bowl champions were shut out in the second half and the Bills took the opportunity to take the lead by scoring three touchdowns.
Allen completed 26 of 31 passes for 297 yards with two interceptions. He also showed off his rushing skills with nine carries for 57 yards. Notably, he grabbed attention by fending off a rival with a powerful outstretch technique and reaching over the goal line for a four-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Stefon Diggs caught eight passes for 122 yards. He caught a 53-yard bomb from Allen for the fourth quarter knockout.
Matthew Stafford had three interceptions, including two as the Rams trailed in the fourth quarter. He completed a touchdown pass to Cooper Kupp and finished with 240 passing yards.
Like last season, Kupp was again Stafford’s favorite target. He caught 12 passes for 100 yards.
