(Washington) Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is the subject of complaints of sexual assault from seven massage therapists, one of their lawyers said on Friday, adding that a total of 22 alleged victims have or are going to sue the NFL star.
Four complaints were added Friday to the first three filed earlier this week, by women, mostly therapeutic masseuses by profession, assured lawyer Tony Buzbee at a press conference in Houston.
The latter said that legal proceedings against five other women were underway and that the allegations of ten other accusers were being examined. “We currently represent 12 women and we will file the remaining complaints in due course as we do our due diligence,” he said, adding that these “22 women in total have reported misconduct similar to that exposed in our public filings ”.
One of the complainants accuses Watson in particular of having forced her to perform a sexual act during a session and of having touched her with her genitals.
“All of the complaints that we have made – and we have examined each one very carefully – relate to the same or similar behavior,” said the lawyer, adding that “three of the women concerned are undergoing intensive therapy at continuation ”of the alleged incident.
Watson, 25, considered one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, has strongly denied the charges which were detailed in civil lawsuits filed in Texas court this week. The NFL has for its part opened an investigation.
“Complainants’ attorney claims it is not a question of money, but before filing a complaint he made an unfounded six-figure claim, which I quickly dismissed. Unlike him, it’s not about money for me – it’s about clearing my name, and I can’t wait to do it, ”said the player.
