New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton suffered a finger injury to his right hand on Friday during a day of organized activities, reports Ryan Hannable of the WEEI radio station.

Newton was reportedly injured when his hand hit a helmet. After being examined by the team’s therapists, he did not throw a ball again.

The 32-year-old Newton started 15 games for the Patriots in 2020, amassing 2,657 yards and 8 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. He also ran the ball 137 times for gains of 592 yards and 12 touchdowns, his highest rushing total since his rookie season with the Carolina Panthers in 2011.
