NFL: Odell Beckham son apologized for training; his future with the compromised Browns
Odell Beckham Jr. may well have played his last game with the Cleveland Browns.
Representatives for the wide receiver have engaged in conversations with general manager Andrew Berry to determine his future with the organization after the Browns decided to retain his services on the NFL trading deadline.
The Browns have discussed an exchange involving Beckham with the New Orleans Saints, according to Kimberley Martin ofESPN, but no deal was reached before Tuesday’s deadline.
Beckham was excused from his team’s training on Wednesday after his father posted comments on social media disparaging his teammate and quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Asked if he was preparing to play without Beckham on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals or if Beckham was still a member of the squad, head coach Kevin Stefanski replied: “I would just tell you today that he is excused and we’ll see where it leads. «
Odell Beckham Sr. posted a video on Instagram where he highlights the occasions when Mayfield failed to throw the ball to his son while he was unmarked. Beckham Sr. also responded with “#bigfacts (big truths)” to a post that called Mayfield “mediocre. «
Beckham is still under contract for the next two seasons. It currently ranks at 151e NFL rank for receptions and at 139e for yards gained from wide receivers.
