NFL: Miami Dolphins show head coach Brian Flores the door
The Miami Dolphins fired head coach Brian Flores after three seasons on Monday.
This dismissal is somewhat surprising since it comes the day after the team’s victory against the New England Patriots which allowed them to conclude the season with a winning record (9-8) for a second consecutive season. . Miami also missed the playoffs last year despite going 10-6.
« I made the decision today to sever our association with Brian Flores, » Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said in a statement. “After assessing where we are as an organization and what we need to improve ourselves, I determined that the key dynamics in our football organization were not performing at a level that I wanted and I felt that this decision was in the best interests of the Miami Dolphins.
“I think we have a young and talented team and we have the opportunity to be much better in 2022. I want to thank Brian for his hard work and wish him the best for his future. «
The Dolphins, who haven’t made the playoffs since 2016, were officially left out of the playoff picture in Week 17, when they saw their seven-game winning streak held back by the Tennessee Titans.
Flores, who was in the NFL head coach for the first time in his career, was 24-25. He was hired by the Dolphins in 2019, having spent the previous three seasons coaching Patriots linebackers.
