Jackson told reporters earlier this week that he and the Ravens had set a Friday deadline for reaching an agreement.
“Despite the best efforts of both parties, we were unable to agree a contract extension with Lamar Jackson. We greatly appreciate how he handled this process and are excited about our team with Lamar at the helm. We will continue to work towards a long-term contract after the season, but for now our focus is on a hopefully successful 2022 season,” Ravens general manager Erik DeCosta said in a statement.
