NFL: Lamar Jackson and Ravens unable to agree on contract extension

The Baltimore Ravens and star quarterback Lamar Jackson have failed to agree on terms of a contract extension, meaning the NFL’s 2019 MVP will sit out this season’s final year. his contract, the team announced on Friday

Jackson told reporters earlier this week that he and the Ravens had set a Friday deadline for reaching an agreement.

“Despite the best efforts of both parties, we were unable to agree a contract extension with Lamar Jackson. We greatly appreciate how he handled this process and are excited about our team with Lamar at the helm. We will continue to work towards a long-term contract after the season, but for now our focus is on a hopefully successful 2022 season,” Ravens general manager Erik DeCosta said in a statement.
