His quarterback Derek Carr only needed to throw a single touchdown pass in the game with such a productive ground game. He joined Mack Hollins in the end zone. The quarterback completed 21 of 27 passes for 241 yards.
Davante Adams caught eight balls for 95 yards.
For the Texans, Davis Mills threw two touchdown passes and recorded 302 yards. He was, however, the victim of an interception which was brought back into the end zone by the Raiders.
Another quarter, same result in Denver
The New York Jets have already signed a fifth victory this season thanks to a 16-9 victory over the Denver Broncos.
Breece Hall sets the tone for 62 yards
What to watch for the Jets is the health of running back Breece Hall, who left the game with a knee injury. He scored a touchdown on a 62-yard run in the first quarter.
Zach Wilson did not have to report with only 121 yards. Without Russell Wilson, Brett Rypien was at quarterback for the Broncos.
He finished the game with 225 yards and 24 completions on 46 attempts. He was also the victim of an interception.
Latavius Murray scored the Broncos’ only touchdown with a run. He finished his game with 24 yards.
No comeback this time for the Chargers
Rookie Kenneth Walker had 168 yards and two touchdowns, Marquise Goodwin scored two majors and the Seattle Seahawks took a 17-point lead in the first quarter to eventually defeat the Los Angeles Chargers 37-23.
Seahawks 37 – Chargers 23
Geno Smith completed 20 of 27 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns. Jason Myers added three field goals for the Seahawks (4-3), who have won three of their last four games and taken a half-game lead atop the NA West Division.
Seattle led 17-0 at the end of the first quarter, its biggest lead after 15 minutes since beating New Orleans in Week 13 in 2013. It was also the biggest road lead for the Seahawks in the end of the first quarter since 2000.
It was also the third straight week the Chargers (4-3) trailed more than ten points in the first quarter. They had managed rallies against Cleveland and Denver, but failed to win this time and saw their three-game winning streak come to an end. Los Angeles is now one game behind Kansas City in the AFC West.
Justin Herbert finished with 33 completions on 51 attempts for 293 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. It’s the second time in his career that he’s thrown at least 50 passes in consecutive games. Austin Ekeler had 127 yards (96 passing, 31 rushing) and two touchdowns, giving him eight over the last three games.
Mike Williams added seven receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Walker took over as Seattle’s starting running back after Rashaad Penny suffered a season-ending ankle injury two weeks ago. Five plays after Ryan Neal intercepted Herbert, Walker drove for 12 yards to increase the Seahawks’ lead to 14-0 with 4:17 left in the first quarter.
Goodwin had his first multi-touchdown game since 2018, when he was with the San Francisco 49ers. Goodwin, in his first season with the Seahawks, had six catches for 79 yards before the game but saw his playing time increase after DK Metcalf left with a knee injury in the first quarter and Tyler Lockett was limited by hamstring strains.
Goodwin gave Seattle a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter when he beat Asante Samuel Jr. in coverage and caught a 20-yard pass in the end zone.
The Seahawks made it 24-14 with 1:40 left in the first half when Goodwin edged JC Jackson for a 23-yard touchdown.
Los Angeles improved to 17-14 with two consecutive touchdowns. Ekeler on a seven-yard run and Williams who caught a 13-yard pass from Herbert for a major.
