NFL: Giants defensive back Logan Ryan is subject to COVID-19 protocol

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – New York Giants defensive back Logan Ryan has been placed on the COVID-19 protocol list and his status for Monday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is uncertain.

Head coach Joe Judge revealed Ryan had a rapid positive COVID-19 test on Thursday. He added that the team was awaiting the result of a virological PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test.

The Giants (3-6) recorded a number of false-positive test results in the week leading up to their game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Nov. 7.

Judge doesn’t think Ryan’s result is a false positive, but didn’t want to say more.

Ryan has 72 tackles, a team high. If he wasn’t able to play against the Bucs (6-3) and his former Patriots teammate Tom Brady, Julian Love would get more playing time.
