Quebecer Benjamin St-Juste is in the crosshairs of the NFL teams to such an extent that one of the luminaries of the ESPN draft, Mel Kiper, made a place for the cornerback in the « top-62 » of his most recent mock draft.
Indeed, Kiper sends the product of the Gophers of the University of Minnesota with the Buffalo Bills in the second round, or in the 61st echelon.
The veteran journalist writes that “St-Juste is still in full development, he who only got 14 starts with Minnesota after his transfer from Michigan”.
“I like what I see of him in the video footage. He has a good build, and is not afraid to tackle. He also stood out in the Senior Bowl in January. He didn’t manage an interception during his run (in the NCAA), but that’s mostly due to the fact that he didn’t play much. He has the potential to become a starter, across the field from Tre’Davious White, ”Kiper continued in his assessment.
At the beginning of April, during the traditional Pro Day, the former Cégep du Vieux-Montréal performed well, achieving the 40-yard distance in 4.51 seconds, the three-cone test in 6.63 seconds, sideways movements in 3.96 seconds, a vertical jump of 34.5 « and the standing long jump of 9’11 ».
The 2021 NFL Draft will run from April 29 to May 1, in Cleveland.
