NFL: Dennis Allen would be the next coach of the New Orleans Saints

NEW ORLEANS – Dennis Allen, defensive coordinator for Sean Payton with the New Orleans Saints for seven seasons, should replace him at the helm of the team, according to ESPN and NFL Network.

Last season, the Saints finished sixth in the league in yards allowed.

The 49-year-old Allen was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 2012 to 2014.

He was let go when the team went 0-4 in 2014. His overall record was 8-28.

Allen coached the Saints in a game last December after Payton tested positive for COVID-19. The team prevailed 9-0 in Tampa.

Division champions from 2017 to 20210, the Saints went 9-8 last year, missing the playoffs.
