Kicker Rodrigo Blankenship paid dearly for his failed field goal attempt in overtime in the Indianapolis Colts’ first game of the season against the Houston Texans.
The kicker was released by the Colts on Tuesday according to what Tom Pelissero learned from the network NFL Network.
Sunday against the Texans, Blankenship missed a 42-yard field goal that could have given the Colts the win over their division rivals. They ultimately settle for a 20-20 draw.
Blankenship had also sent two kicks out of bounds in a visibly difficult game.
Indianapolis then signed kickers Chase McLaughlin and Lucas Havrisik for its practice squad and they are expected to be inserted into the Colts’ roster for their Sunday game.
