NFL – Captain Morgan rewards fans of the year with giant statues (Fan of the Year)
Throughout the month of December Captain Morgan, official sponsor of the National Football League, had statues built to recognize each franchise’s ‘Fans of the Year’.
We are often used to seeing statues to honor great players or legendary coaches. This time, these constructions pay homage to other players in the sport, the fans. The rum brand from Jamaica wanted to reward the supporters “who really spice up the game with their love and passion for their teams”.
Thus, 32 fans (one per team) have been selected by the franchises after a registration phase. Those 32 « superfans » are now in the running for the title of « Fan of The Year », a title which will be decided after an open online vote until February 8, 2023. The 32 « fans » will be invited to the Super Bowl 2023 (February 12) and the winner of the vote will be honored at the “NFL Honors” evening which will take place on February 9th.
When we talk about statues, we are not talking about small bronze busts. They are statues « bigger than nature ». These last weeks, Captain Morgan, Official Partner of the NFL, traveled the country to unveil the various statues bearing the image of supporters. Here is for example that of Jeff Bloom, Fan of Giants of New York.
Some statues have been revealed on the day game of the fan team with parallel activities such as signature cocktail tasting workshops Captain Morgan, « Presenting Sponsor » of the Fan of the Year scheme.

And that’s not all ! The 32 “stars” also had the chance to make the cover of Sports magazine Illustrated through an advertisement. The NFL website has also reserved a special section for them to explain the origins and background of the supporter in question.

Example of a Sports Illustrated cover.
