News – Nico Hischier has been named captain of the NJ Devils
According to various tweets, including two from the New Jersey Devils, the East Coast organization has named Nico Hischier (22) as the captain of the Devils. He thus becomes the 3rd Swiss to wear the « C » on his jersey after Mark Streit (NY Islanders) and Roman Josi (Nashville).
So far, Hischier has played 214 NHL games and has totaled 52 goals and 84 assists. He missed the start of the current season after suffering a fractured fibula during training in Bern in early December. Then the Covid played tricks on him. He must therefore make his comeback tonight against the Buffalo Sabers and this new responsibility comes at the right time.
Hischier is the 12th captain in Devils history and the second youngest after Kirk Muller, who was given this responsibility at age 21.
