Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask, who officially signed a one-year contract with the team on January 11, is set to play in his first game of the season when Boston hosts Philadelphia at TD Garden, in one of 11 games scheduled for Thursday.
- Rask appeared in 14 NHL seasons with the Bruins and is the franchise’s all-time leader in both wins (306) and games played (560) by a goaltender, while also storing also a Stanley Cup (2011), a Vezina Trophy (2013/14) and a William M. Jennings Trophy (2019/20) during his tenure in the Spoked-B.
Lamoriello (almost) at the top
The Islanders’ Lou Lamoriello enters Thursday with 1,505 career wins as NHL general manager (regular season and playoffs) and needs just one to tie Glen Sather (1,506) for second. highest combined total in league history. Lamoriello had 1,229 of his wins as general manager with New Jersey, which New York beat by a 4-2 margin on Dec. 11, 2021 to start their five-point home streak (4-0-1 ).
Three teams are fighting for a 25th victory
Ondrej Palat, Brady Skjei and Tanner Jeannot can extend their respective scoring streak as the Lightning (24-9-5, 53 points), Hurricanes (24-7-2, 50 points) and Predators (24-11- 2, 50 points) are looking to become the first NHL teams to reach the 25-game winning mark this season.
- Palat has scored at least one goal in each of Tampa Bay’s last four games (5-1-6), which is the longest scoring streak of his NHL career. Palat’s five goals in 2022 are followed only by Bruins forward Brad Marchand (8-4-12 in 7 GP), Penguins forward Bryan Rust (7-4-11 in 3 GP) and the Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat (6-0-6 in 6 GP) for most NHL goals.
- Skjei has scored in each of Carolina’s last three games (4-2-6). It was the longest active goal streak among NHL defensemen and one game less than the longest in franchise history by a Hurricanes/Whalers defenseman, achieved by Dougie Hamilton of October 6 to 12, 2019 (4-2-6 in 4 GP).
- Jeannot, who leads all rookies with 12 goals this season (12-11-23 in 37 GP), has a four-goal streak at home since December 4, 2021 (5-1-6). It’s the longest home scoring streak for a rookie in franchise history.
