Notes :
Largely in the lead 3-0 at the end of the middle third, the NY Islanders gave way and suffered, but without folding in the 3rd period. As a result, they came back to tie 2-2 against Tampa as the outcome of Act III raised fears of the worst, especially as the Islanders’ 1st period was not particularly good, they who were dominated 11-4 in the chapter of shots on target.
However, Josh Bailey, Mathew Barzal and Matt Martin hit the mark for the Islanders in the 2nd period. Corn Brayden Point and Tyler johnson scored two quick goals early in the third period, which melted the Islanders’ lead. Note that this is the 7th game in a row where Point gets a goal. He has now hit the target 12 times in this round.
For the rest, the floor was given to the New York porter Semyon Varlamov (28 saves), who has distinguished himself on numerous occasions, such as a close-range shot from Nikita Kucherov at the end of the match, which preserved his team’s lead. His opposite, Andrei Vasilevskiy, faced 30 shots from New Yorkers.
Both teams had chances to score in the 3rd period, but it was defender Ryan Pulock who ultimately saved the home by blocking a shot from Ryan McDonagh on his knees in the last second of play, which confirmed victory for the Islanders.
Game 5 is Monday night in Tampa.
