Notes :
The Canadian escaped thanks to his overtime victory and acquired the right to play a 7th game in Toronto. A result that the Canadian owes to the Finn Jesperi Kotkaniemi who scored in the 76th minute with a sharp wrist shot. This is the 2nd match puck saved by the Quebec franchise after a goalkeeper match
Because the 1st star of the game has been offered again to the goalkeeper Carey Price after he intercepted 41 of the 43 shots received (.093). Price was decisive in overtime where he received no less than 16 shots. The 2nd star returned to his opposite Jack Campbel which gave Toronto a chance early in the game when Montreal was in a hurry. Because the Habs started the evening with a bang, shooting eight times in the first 2 minutes of the game
It was following the excellence of the two goalkeepers that the first goal of the game did not finally fall until the 46th minute, by Corey perry, then by Tyler toffoli, both in special situations and in less than 100 seconds. TJ Brodie and Jason spezza however, managed to tie the game in the last eight minutes of regulation time to force an overtime period.
Note that last night’s meeting was the first with spectators in the stands since March 10, 2020, that Toronto defender Jake Muzzin retired to the locker room during the 2nd period and that the 7th and final match of the series will take place Monday in Toronto … in front of empty stands.

In Boston where 17,400 were allowed, the NY Islanders were unable to contain the Czech David Pastrnak who scored a hat-trick! Pastrnak hit the target in each of the game’s three periods, but more importantly, gave the Bruins a two-goal lead in the 56th minute, before Taylor hall did not conclude in power-play at the 59th.
New York side, Anthony Beauvillier, in numerical advantage, and Adam pelech replied, while their porter Ilya Sorokin blocked 35 shots. Tied 2-2 until the 47th minute, the Bruins secured their victory with their three consecutive goals in the 3rd period.
In the regular season, the « Isles » had won five of the eight scheduled matches, but Washington’s dropouts in the 4th inning looked cooler than their opponents, who only qualified in Game 6. The Bostonians had a 40-22 shot record.
Game 2 will take place in Boston on Monday. Note that Bruins forward Craig Smith left the game in the 3rd period due to a lower body injury.
