News – NHL: Boston and Canes win in overtime
NHL, Play-offs, Section Finals « Best-of-seven« , (03.06.2021) :
NY Islanders – Boston : 1 – 2 ap (0-1 0-0 1-0)
Boston leads 2-1 in the series
Tampa Bay – Carolina : 2 – 3 ap (0-0 2-2 0-0)
Tampa leads 2-1 in the series
Notes :
In a meeting poor in goals, Brad Marchand foiled the New York goalkeeper Semyon Varlamov from a tight angle after 3 minutes of overtime play. As a result, Boston won 2-1 their third game of their series against the NY Islanders. The latter is going to blame himself, because despite a good overall performance (.951), he got caught in a very closed shot. This is Marchand’s second overtime winning goal in the current series.

The victory is not illogical, even if it comes in overtime: the Bruins led throughout the game and Craig Smith had scored the first goal of the game after 6 minutes of play. Mathew Barzal forced an overtime by hitting the target with only five minutes remaining on the scoreboard.
Game 4 is on Saturday, again on Long Island. Note that the teams that win game 3 of a best of seven series won the series in a proportion of 65.5%.
GAME. TIED.

In the other playoff game played on Thursday night, an overtime was also necessary and it is Jordan staal which gave the Hurricanes the winning goal in power play in the 66th. But the man of the match was arguably the star of the Carolina Hurricanes Sebastian aho, who not only scored it 2-0 in the 28th minute, but was behind his team’s three goals.
Between the goal of Aho’s break and the end of the middle period, Brayden Point and Alex killorn had equalized at 2-2, but the number of goals scored in regulation time was not going to change. Note that Carolina is deprived of attackers Nino Niederreiter, who did not play in this series, and Vincent Trocheck. In addition, a 3rd striker (Warren Foegele) seems to have injured his shoulder and did not return.
Petr Mrazek was back in front of the Hurricanes’ cage and he repelled 35 shots directed at him (.946). The next game will be on Saturday.
THREE-POINT NIGHT.
