News – Four Swedes Get NHL Contracts

The 22-year-old striker Pontus Holmberg signed his first NHL contract. The young Swede has signed up for two seasons with the club that drafted him in 2018, in the 6th round. Last season, Holmberg played 45 games for the Växjö Lakers, earning 23 points.

The Colorado Avalanche has signed the player for one season Andreas Wingerli. Never drafted, the 23-year-old Swede spent last season with Skelleftea where he obtained 28 points in 50 games.

Aligned 42 times with Brynas in the last exercise, the keeper Samuel Ersson will now wear the colors of the Flyers. The Philadelphia side made the 21-year-old goaltender a 5th round pick in 2018. Last year, he maintained a 2.96 goals-against average and a 91.1 percent save rate.

The young striker Nils Lundkvist, selected in the 1st round in 2018, initialed his 1st NHL contract. The 20-year-old Swede has played the last four seasons with Lulea. Last year he finished with 32 points in 52 games.
