New Rumors Suggest LEGO Speed Champions Changes In 2023

New details around next year’s rumored LEGO Speed Champions sets suggest the theme could bring two big changes for 2023.

Since moving from six studs wide to eight studs wide in 2020, LEGO Speed Champions has established a consistent format for its product line, which typically consists of three individual cars and a pair of two-packs. The only outliers came in 2021, when a third two-pack ran on the shelves, and earlier this summer, when the theme expanded with two movie-focused cars in 76911 007 Aston Mart in DB5 and 76912 Fast & Furious 1970 Dodge Charger R/T.

A total of five sets are rumored to be on the way in the first half of 2023, with history pointing to another mix of three single cars and two double packs. But Stone Wars has now released the supposed piece counts for these five sets, and they don’t quite fit the same release formula.

That’s because only one of the sets apparently includes enough parts for two vehicles, while the rest are about the right amount for just one car each. Their prices back up that claim, with four of the five sets at €24.99, and the fifth – and largest – reportedly selling for €44.99. This is 10€xtra than the price originally announced by Promobriques, but seems more likely for the 76918 pieces of 581.

Also new to the latest LEGO Speed Champions list of sets rumored for 2023 are 30657, which is likely the fourth in the polybag theme build. It would include 95 pieces and launch in March 2023, alongside four of the other five sets.

And therein lies the other big change for Speed Champions in 2023: according to StoneWars, 76,917 Fast & Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 will actually launch in January, splitting the initial wave of themed cars for the first time since years. It’s also one of only two sets on the rumored list that we have more details on, alongside 76,916 Porsche 963s.

Here’s a complete rundown of all the rumored LEGO Speed Champions 2023 sets. None of these are confirmed at this point, so take them with the requisite pinch of salt for now.
