The NBA suspended Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver for 1 year for racist and misogynistic behavior. He is also fined $10 million. During this period, he can no longer manage a franchise, attend meetings and frequent the facilities of NBA teams.
An independent investigation commissioned by the NBA found that Sarver had « clearly violated » the rules of good conduct of the professional world but also of the league. He is accused of having treated his employees in an unfair manner, using « words disregarding racial sensitivities »a sexually connoted language and to have had an attitude of harassment.
Robert Sarver escaped the 2014 American League excommunication imposed on former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, who was banned for life for making racist remarks in a recorded private conversation.
