NBA. Patrick Beverley returns to Los Angeles, but at the Lakers

Point guard Patrick Beverley, a longtime Los Angeles Clippers player, will play with the rival Lakers franchise next season, he announced in a Tweet on Thursday, confirming the announcement of his transfer by several media.

« I Woke Up Laker »wrote Beverley, who had been with the Utah Jazz since the offseason after helping the Minnesota Timberwolves reach the final stages the previous season, was traded for Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson.

Aged 34, a fierce defender and a willing provocateur on the court, Beverley has long been a hated opponent of the Lakers.

« I can’t wait for him to let go this season », tweeted his future teammate, superstar LeBron James. To which he replied: “Same thing, here we go. »

“I used to hate Beverley when he played against my Lakers (lol, laugh out loud) but now I love him because he’s on our team and he’s going to help us reach the final stages! », rejoiced club legend Magic Johnson.

In competition with Westbrook

Last season, the franchise « purple and gold »whose last championship title dates back to 2020, had not succeeded in this objective, certainly weighed down by injuries but also by the inadequacy of the star Russell Westbrook, yet recruited at a high price.

Beverley, who played in Ukraine, Greece and Russia in his younger days before making his NBA debut with Houston in 2013, will compete with him at point guard.
