NBA: Gorgui Sy Dieng back in San Antonio…
The San Antonio Spurs announced today that they have signed center Gorgui Dieng. Per team policy, the terms of the contract were not announced. For his return, Gorgui Sy will wear No. 41, the club announced in a statement.
Recall that the Senegalese international spent last season with the Atlanta Hawks where he played 44 matches.
He is making his second stint at San Antonio after briefly playing 16 games for Spurs in the 2020-21 season, averaging 5.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 11.3 minutes.
After 10 long years in the NBA, Gorgui Sy Dieng, who has been back for at least one or even two years, has career averages of 7.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20.5 minutes in 597 matches in total.
Selected in the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft (21st overall) by the Utah Jazz, he was assigned to the Timberwolves on draft night and spent his first six seasons with Minnesota.
