NBA: Goran Dragic strengthens the ranks of the Brooklyn Nets

Slovenian point guard Goran Dragic signed on Tuesday with Brooklyn where he will reunite with former Phoenix Suns teammate Steve Nash, now Nets coach. Goran Dragic, 35, was free of any contract after negotiating his departure from the San Antonio Spurs.

872 NBA games

A 14-year NBA veteran, Goran Dragic is a familiar face to coach Steve Nash, who was his teammate for three seasons in Phoenix. After a stint in Houston, Goran Dragic returned to the Suns to replace Steve Nash when the Canadian left for the Los Angeles Lakers. Goran Dragic has appeared in 872 NBA games, including 524 as a starter, with Phoenix, Houston, Miami and Toronto, which traded him to the Spurs earlier this month. His averages are 13.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1 steal per game.

The Slovenian was part of the All-Star in 2018 and was voted Most Improved Player in the NBA (MIP, player having improved the most) with the Suns during the 2013-14 campaign. The Nets, who waived point guard Jevon Carter to make room for Dragic, completed a trade deadline trade and sent James Harden to Philadelphia for Australian power forward Ben Simmons to Brooklyn. With a barely positive record (31-28), the Nets occupy eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
