Nations League: Italians Pellegrini and Politano forfeit against England

The Italians Lorenzo Pellegrini and Matteo Politano, both injured, left the selection on Tuesday which is to face England on Friday during the 5th day of Group 3 of the League of Nations (League A). The packages of the two midfielders are added to that of another midfielder, that of Paris Saint-Germain Marco Verratti, injured in the calf

AS Roma player Lorenzo Pellegrini played with thigh pain in his side’s 0-1 home loss to Atalanta Bergamo on Sunday and was rested after tests at the center training for the Italian selection.

His compatriot from Naples was substituted after suffering a blow to the ankle when he scored his team’s first goal against AC Milan on Sunday (2-1 victory). The Italian coach, Roberto Mancini, has decided not to take the risk of aggravating his injury.

To compensate for these packages, Mancini has decided to call Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi, Sampdoria Genoa striker Manolo Gabbiadini and young Salvatore Esposito, who plays for SPAL (Serie B).
