Quebec driver Marc-Antoine Camirand ended his season in NASCAR Pinty’s with panache on Sunday, becoming champion of the series for the first time in his career.

It must be said that Camirand was already in a very good position to triumph, even before the start of the event presented at Delaware Speedway, in Ontario.

From 8th on the starting grid, Camirand managed to play it safe and avoid pitfalls, even though a dangerous collision involving multiple cars occurred during the event.

Showing up at Delaware Speedway in Ontario, Camirand knew that barring a real disaster, the title would go to him. Thanks to his 33-point lead over his rival Kevin Lacroix, Camirand could only hope to finish 22nd or better in a scenario where Lacroix dominated the race from start to finish.

This is how the driver from Saint-Léonard-d’Aston was able to savor his victory in the championship, after three victories acquired out of a total of 13 races during this 2022 calendar.

In the general classification, Camirand was ahead of his compatriot Kevin Lacroix, who still had a slim chance of dislodging him on Sunday.

The event was won by Brandon Watson, who in addition to deserving his first victory in the NASCAR Pinty’s series, inherited the honors of rookie driver of the year.
