After finishing second in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series standings three times in six seasons, driver Kevin Lacroix, of Saint-Eustache, wants the 2021 season that begins this Sunday 1er August is finally that where he will be consecrated champion.

It is at least in this spirit that he will set off at Sunset Speedway, in Ontario, in his # 74 Bumper to Bumper / Lacroix Tuning car, for the first two races of this season which, due to the health constraints linked to COVID-19, was delayed by just over two months.

Instead, the initial schedule called for a start to the season on May 23. The revised season of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series will feature 11 events, presented on seven different tracks in August and September. Four of them will take place in Quebec, among others at the Circuit Trois-Rivières, on Sunday August 15, to close the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières, and at the Circuit ICAR, in Mirabel, on Saturday August 28.

Last year, at the end of a season shortened to six races, the Saint-Eustache driver scored a victory (he has 13 in his career), finished four times in the top five and appeared six times in the top. -10. He was beaten by 14 points by the champion of this season 2020, Jason Attaway.

Time to prepare

« The season started later than expected due to sanitary measures in some provinces, which gave us time to prepare well. It also gave me time to practice on the simulator, I see it as very good training and have been doing a lot since the start of the pandemic.», Said a Kevin Lacroix impatient to find himself in the heart of the action.

If he is aiming for the title of grand champion, after six seasons in the NASCAR Pinty’s series, Lacroix says he is approaching seventh wisely, and intends to bet on consistency rather than victories to achieve his goal.

« The important thing this season will be to have a constant rhythm to make sure to register points. Last year I was very close to the title, but a mistake in the first race decided the championship», Remembers the Eustachois, who knows he will have a hard time facing hardened opponents during this season, including Alex Tagliani, Andrew Ranger and Alex Labbé (who is making a return to the NASCAR Piny’s series after a year absence), without forgetting the defending champion Jason Attaway who will undertake a 14e season.

The Eustachois, however, has confidence in his team and his cars. « We have made some good changes to the car used on the road circuits and we are very fast so I have all the elements to fight forward», Explains Lacroix, who will once again be able to count on Bumper to Bumper support as a main partner, in addition to that of Lacroix Tuning. A new sponsor must also be announced for the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières.

It should be noted in closing that the first event next Sunday, the Frontline Workers 125, will be presented at 4:50 pm, followed by the General Tire 125, at 6:30 pm. The highlights can be found on the [nascar.ca/race-center/] simultaneously and on social networks of the NASCAR Pinty’s series. Both races will be broadcast later on RDS and TSN.
