Everything finally seems in place for the debut of Floyd Mayweather’s team in the NASCAR series.
As reported ESPNTuesday, the former boxing champion’s stable would be ready for the Daytona 500 which is due to take place later this month. Unsurprisingly, Mayweather’s stable is called ‘The Money Team Racing’ and Kaz Grala will be driving the #50 Chevrolet for the event.
Mayweather thus imitated other celebrities to make the leap into the NASCAR series just like Michael Jordan and Pitbull who became team owners. However, Mayweather’s team doesn’t have a guaranteed spot in the race at Daytona, so Grala will have to qualify their car in one of the 40 available spots.
Looking ahead, team principal William Auchmoody told theAssociated Press that the plan was to be on the track for at least four more races, mostly on road courses. At best, Mayweather’s team would like to compete in 15 events.
